Produce Pay

ProducePay is an agricultural fintech platform founded in 2014 by Pablo Borquez Schwarzbeck, a fourth-generation farmer, and headquartered in Los Angeles, California, with operations in Tijuana and Ciudad de México. The company operates what it calls a Predictable Commerce Platform designed to address critical pain points in the fresh produce industry, including access to working capital and supply chain inefficiencies. ProducePay serves growers, distributors, and buyers of fruits and vegetables across more than 20 countries, primarily connecting small and medium-sized farmers in Mexico and Latin America with buyers in the United States and international markets. The platform offers three core services: financing solutions that provide growers with working capital before harvest and invoice factoring that enables payment within 24 hours; a marketplace connecting verified buyers and sellers of fresh produce; and real-time data analytics for market intelligence, pricing transparency, and shipment tracking. The company has raised over $400 million in equity funding, with participation from international development institutions including IFC and the Inter-American Development Bank, as well as private investors such as Syngenta Group Ventures, G2 Venture Partners, and Anterra Capital. ProducePay has supported over $4.5 billion in fresh produce transactions globally and employs approximately 300 people. The platform targets farmers who often lack access to traditional bank financing due to the perishable nature of their collateral, providing them with financial tools to scale operations and integrate into global export chains. The company emphasizes sustainability and waste reduction in its operations.
