Base10 Partners is a San Francisco–based venture capital firm founded in 2017 that focuses on early-stage technology companies using automation and intelligent software to modernize the “real economy,” including sectors such as transportation, logistics, retail, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services.
The firm primarily invests from Seed through Series A with initial checks in the low to mid single-digit millions, using a **data-driven** sourcing and evaluation approach to identify founders who are applying automation to large, operationally intensive industries and partnering closely with them on go-to-market, hiring, and scaling.
Base10 manages approximately $1.8 billion in assets across multiple funds and over 100 portfolio companies, having become the first Black-led venture capital firm to surpass $1 billion in assets under management as of 2022. Its portfolio includes category-defining companies such as Notion, Figma, Stripe, Nubank, Aurora Solar, Popmenu, Chili Piper, Wealthsimple, and Secureframe, and in 2021 the firm launched The Advancement Initiative, a growth-stage vehicle that donates 50% of its profits to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to fund scholarships and endowments.
Led by managing partners Adeyemi Ajao and TJ Nahigian, who bring combined experience as founders and investors with more than $3 billion in realized exits, Base10 is recognized for its mission of “automating the real economy” while embedding diversity, inclusion, and positive social impact into its core investment strategy.
