Pagando is a Mexican fintech company founded in 2017 and headquartered in Chihuahua, Mexico. Founded by Carlos Castañeda, who previously worked at PayPal, the company positions itself as la Fintech del Norte (the Fintech of the North) and specializes in providing digital financial services for individuals and businesses across Mexico. Pagando operates as a licensed electronic payment funds institution (Institución de Fondos de Pago Electrónico or IFPE), having received official authorization from the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV) and Banco de México, with its regulatory status published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on November 16, 2023. The company also holds PCI-DSS international security certification. Pagando offers a range of products including digital accounts for individuals and businesses, physical and virtual payment cards issued in partnership with Mastercard and technology provider Pomelo, payroll automation services, merchant payment acceptance solutions, and access to credit products. For businesses, the platform enables SPEI transfers, international remittances from the United States, cash deposits, expense management through co-accounts, and payments to employees and suppliers. The company targets both consumer and corporate segments, emphasizing low fees, transparent pricing, real-time transactions, and digital-first processes that eliminate traditional banking bureaucracy. With over 40 employees and operations throughout Mexico, Pagando raised $2.7 million in a pre-seed round in December 2017.
