COOP Cooperativa Financiera, operating under the legal name Coopdesarrollo S.C. de A.P. de R.L. de C.V., is a regulated savings and credit cooperative (SOCAP) based in San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato. Founded in 1976, the cooperative has established itself as a significant player in Mexico's popular savings and credit sector, operating 46 branches across five states: Guanajuato (19 branches), Jalisco (23 branches), Aguascalientes (2 branches), Zacatecas (1 branch), and Michoacán (1 branch). The cooperative serves over 200,000 members and provides financial services exclusively to Mexican residents who become members of the organization. COOP is one of the first three cooperatives in Mexico to receive authorization from the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV) under the LRASCAP (Ley para Regular las Actividades de las Sociedades Cooperativas de Ahorro y Préstamo), obtaining its authorization on March 22, 2006, with authorization code 29005. Notably, the institution achieved the distinction of becoming the first and only cooperative in Mexico to obtain the maximum Level IV operational status from the CNBV, which permits a broader range of financial operations. The cooperative offers a comprehensive suite of products including savings accounts, term deposits (InverCoop), personal loans, automotive financing, mortgage loans, business credit, agricultural credit, and eco-friendly loans. Members have access to digital banking through the COOPdigital mobile application, debit and credit cards, money transfer services, and payment services. As an authorized SOCAP, Coopdesarrollo is subject to CNBV supervision and participates in the deposit insurance program, providing coverage up to 25,000 UDIs per member.
