Nuvei Corporation is a Canadian payment technology company headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, that provides global payment processing infrastructure. The company was founded in 2003 by Philip Fayer as Pivotal Payments and rebranded to Nuvei in 2018. Nuvei operates as a publicly traded entity on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, having completed its Canadian IPO in September 2020 and its American IPO in October 2021. The company offers a modular, end-to-end payment platform that enables businesses to accept next-generation payments, offer payout solutions, and access card issuing, banking, risk management, and fraud management services. Nuvei connects businesses to customers in more than 200 markets with local acquiring capabilities in 50 markets, supporting 150 currencies and over 720 alternative payment methods through a single integration. The platform serves various industries including e-commerce, gaming, hospitality, automotive, financial services, and travel sectors. In September 2021, Nuvei acquired Paymentez, a Latin American payment provider with offices in Mexico City, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, and Guayaquil, significantly expanding its presence in the region. Through this acquisition, Nuvei gained direct connectivity in eleven Latin American countries with local acquiring in nine countries including Mexico, where it now offers real-time bank transfer solutions and supports over 80 local payment methods. The company has also made strategic acquisitions including Paya Holdings in 2023 and has developed partnerships with major technology providers like Microsoft Azure. Nuvei recently obtained a Crypto-Asset Service Provider license under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation in December 2025, further expanding its service capabilities.
